The Make-A-Wish Telethon Results are In!

Thanks to everyone for their support and efforts in helping the Make-A-Wish foundation’s Wishes in Flight campaign a huge success.

Midco Connections is proud of our community involvement and helping organizations like Make-A Wish of South Dakota. It was very rewarding to help raise so many airline miles to help support making wishes for kids with terminal illnesses come true. Paul Krueger, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish, South Dakota, had this to say, “What a wonderful day! On behalf of the kids and families across South Dakota that we serve, THANK YOU for partnering with us for our first ever statewide Wishes in Flight Campaign! We set a conservative goal of 750,000 miles and were shooting for at least a million. After the 12 a.m.report from Midco Connections combined with the online donations throughout the night, our final number is 2,308,418 miles! That’s approximately 60 airline tickets for a savings of at least $26,000 for our chapter!

Hats off to KSFY, NewsCenter1 and Midco Connections and to everyone involved for working with us and making this campaign such a success!”

                                       Make-A-Wish Foundation® of South Dakota

A first-ever statewide campaign for unused frequent flier miles March 1 will help make wishes come true for South Dakota kids with life-threatening medical conditions. Through the Wishes in Flight SM campaign, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of South Dakota hopes to receive 750,000 miles.

More than 65 percent of the wishes granted by Make-A-Wish require air travel, the largest expense of the chapter’s annual wish budget. Miles from Delta, United, Continental and US Airways are accepted. Once the miles are donated they never expire and 100 percent of the donated miles stay in South Dakota.

Watch KSFY and NewsCenter1 on March 1 for more information. Miles will be accepted that day by calling 1-800-640-9198. Miles can also be donated online at southdakota.wish.org.

The statewide effort is made possible by KSFY, NewsCenter1, Midco Connections, and Midcontinent Communications.

What is your position at Midco? Maintenance Programmer

How does your position impact our clients? I maintain client scripts, as well as data imports and exports.

What do you do in your position that ensures Midco is successful for our client’s? As a maintenance programmer, I work to complete projects and account maintenance in a timely manner so that Midco can meet or exceed the business needs of our clients.

What is your favorite part of your job? Using past associate experience and applying it to projects to make it as easy as possible for our current associates while still meeting client needs.

What do you like most about working for Midco? The people here at Midco make it a great place to work.

What is your most memorable (client) moment at Midco? My most memorable experience was hearing the excitement from one of our clients while demoing a validation program after I had changed some features to work much better for the associates while still meeting the requirements of the client.  The changes allowed the agents to service the client’s callers much faster and more accurately than possible with the previous version of the program.

Midco employees give back this Holiday Season

The holidays are the time of year when everyone is busy here at Midco and with our personal lives. We wanted to take a moment to say thank you to those Midco employees who added one extra thing to their schedule or one other item to their to do list by supporting the holiday events here at Midco.

Thank you to those employees who signed up to help wrap gifts at the Children’s Inn gift wrapping booth at the Empire Mall. Between the 3 shifts we covered we wrapped a lot of gifts and I know each of you helped to make someone’s Christmas a little brighter.

Thank you also to those of you who supported our Giving Tree of Hope in Fargo and our Spirit Tree in Sioux Falls. In Fargo there were 11 out of 20 tags filled and in Sioux Falls there were 32 out of 40 tags filled. Imagine the smile on each person’s face when they get to open the gifts you gave!

And lastly, thank you to those of you who contributed items for our Volunteers of America family we sponsored. There were some great food and household items turned in as well as a few “fun” items, a gas card and some cash. In addition to the items that were donated we also used some funds from fundraisers earlier this year and purchased some clothes, toys and a few other items on their holiday wish list. We delivered the gifts the week before Christmas and the family was very appreciative and excited to receive the items.  Thanks again for everyones participation-It is so wonderful to work for a company of people who care!
